Do I need to sign up or create an account?
No. Just download the app and choose your location. Your name, email or phone number are not asked for.
Are Mumin App's prayer times the same as the Diyanet's?
In Türkiye the times of the Diyanet (Presidency of Religious Affairs of Türkiye) are used by default. The app has a screen showing how each time is calculated. Mumin App is an independent app and has no official connection with the Diyanet.
Can I change the calculation method?
Yes. Besides the Diyanet, you can choose from methods such as Muslim World League, ISNA, Umm al-Qura (Mecca), Egypt, Karachi, Tehran, Gulf, Kuwait, Qatar, Singapore, France, Russia, Malaysia and Indonesia. You can set Asr according to the Hanafi or Shafi'i school. In northern countries you can also choose the rule used for Fajr and Isha.
Can I use it abroad or in another country?
Yes. You choose the country first, then the city. Mumin App automatically selects the calculation method commonly used in that country, and you can change it if you wish. It works anywhere in the world, such as Germany, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom, the USA, Canada, Australia and the Gulf countries. You can also see the daily times of major cities on this site. Prayer times for world cities.
Does the adhan play when the phone is silent?
For each prayer you choose one of silent, notification, notification with adhan sound, or adhan alarm. The adhan alarm is scheduled as a system alarm so that it can play even when the phone is silent. With the other options the phone's silent mode applies. The result may vary with your phone model and settings; the Adhan Health screen warns you if it sees a problem.
The adhan is not playing. What should I do?
The most common cause is the phone's battery saver and app permission settings. Phones such as Samsung and Xiaomi may close background apps. Mumin App's Adhan Health screen checks the notification permission, the exact alarm permission and battery restrictions. If there is a problem, it tells you and shows you step by step how to fix it. No app can override a phone's system settings, which is why we recommend checking them.
How is the qibla direction found, and is internet needed?
Mumin App calculates the qibla direction using your phone's location and compass. This calculation is done on the phone; no internet is needed. Metal surfaces and magnetic cases can throw the compass off. You can calibrate the compass by moving the phone in a figure-of-eight in the air.
How does shared khatm via WhatsApp work?
You set up a khatm circle in the app and write your intention. You send the resulting link to your family and friends on WhatsApp. Everyone who opens the link takes a juz' and marks it when they have read it. You can all see how far the circle has come. The circle's name, intention and participants' names are encrypted; Mumin App cannot read them. The circle is deleted 90 days after its last activity.
Do people joining a khatm need to install the app?
No. The link opens in the phone's browser. A participant can take their juz' and mark it as read without installing the app. If they wish, they can also install the app and open the circle there.
Does Mumin App work without internet?
Largely, yes. Times are saved to your phone and the adhan is scheduled on the phone, so even with no internet you can see the times and hear the adhan. Internet is needed for first-time setup and when the times are refreshed. Features shared with others, such as the khatm circle, need internet.
Are my location and information safe?
Your GPS location never leaves your phone; times are calculated on the phone. No account, name, email or phone number is requested. Your data is never sold or shared with advertising companies. Anonymous usage statistics are collected to improve the app: which screens are used, app version, phone type and brand, display/theme preferences, the country and city name you choose, calculation method and error logs. These are not linked to your identity, are kept under a random installation number, can be switched off in the settings and are deleted after 400 days. Your IP address is not recorded. Details are in the KVKK Privacy Notice. If you turn on the optional Qibla map, map tiles are downloaded from a third-party provider (OpenFreeMap), which can see the approximate area and your IP address; your GPS coordinates are not sent, and no request is made while the map is off. Likewise, if you open the optional nearby-mosques list and consent, your approximate location (rounded to about 1 km) and your IP address are sent to OpenStreetMap Overpass servers (overpass-api.de and its backups); your exact GPS coordinates, account or identifier are not sent, the request does not touch the Mumin App server, and none is made while the list is off. KVKK Privacy Notice.
What is Easy Mode?
Easy Mode is a simple screen with much larger text. The time of the next prayer appears in a giant font, and the six times are listed in readable rows. It suits people with weaker eyesight or who find phones difficult. You can use it to set up your parents' phone.
Is there a home screen widget?
Yes. By adding the widget to your phone's home screen you can see the times without opening the app.
Is there a Ramadan timetable?

Are there tools for zakat, fitr and qada prayers?

Mumin App is not affiliated with the Diyanet (Presidency of Religious Affairs of Türkiye).
